Yesterday 5punk.co.uk was ten years old and I wrote about some of the games we’ve played and peoples’ memories of them. In celebration we played some games last night – lots of us did, maybe twenty at one point. In order to get all those people together we had to find games we all had, and it comes as no surprise that those games were all first person sh0oters. Maybe it’s because they’re easy to pick up because they’re mechanically similar, maybe it’s because they’re convenient to drop in and out of with any number of players. Either way, shooters are so popular among 5punkers that today they get their own article.

Friday Diary: Cock Snorkeling
An ill-prepared evening left us mostly playing Dota 2 last night, but I’m not going to run away with evangelising over a game half the people who read this probably don’t like. I’ll save that for another week. We had a fine turnout though, and the witty and sophisticated repartee was present as always. As can be seen by the title of this week’s diary.

The Friday Diary: Vulpomorphism
Friday night games can vary wildly in their medium, but not as wildly as the conversations over Teamspeak. Last night the gaming was as before, Battlefield 3 followed by some Dota 2, but the sparkling conversation included things possibly never discussed before by man.
The Friday Diary: Return of the BEEF
I’m going to try to make a regular feature of a quick diary of our 5punky gaming nights on fridays and saturdays. Not everyone can make them, but people may be interested in the games. Teamspeak forms the heart of our gaming nights, the games almost being there as a source of conversation. Beer also features quite highly. Our gaming nights have always been one of the things which keeps the community as close as it is.
